Civilian protection saved 14 people from the tracks – illegal roads to cross the border – over the weekend before the flood of the Tachira River, Governor Laiji Gomez announced on Monday.

He suggested Venezuelans tried to go to Colombia to seek medication and food. "We hope this will awaken the conscience and fully enable the Urenha and San Antonio bridge, because the human loss that will be generated will be the responsibility of the organisms, especially the armed forces," he said at a press conference.

Gomez questions the opening of the border only in Paraguachon, in the state of Zulia, in order to establish a trade exchange and qualification of its customs. "Why is Thachira's border not currently commissioned in her customs? Why do they prefer to allow the paths for private business?" He said.

He urged authorities that, in the same way as they opened the Paraguayon border crossing, Thatcher's border was formally made possible to avoid human losses and damage.

Nicholas Maduro ordered the whole and indefinite closure of the bridge Simon Bolivar the day before the announced arrival of humanitarian aid on February 23. Since then, the step remains disabled.
