An American Airlines plane from Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina, slipped off the runway Monday morning after landing at O'Care International Airport in snowy Chicago.
A passenger by the name of Joseph Lian filmed the moment the plane went sliding into a grassy field. In the video, posted by Andrea Blanford, correspondent for ABC11 in Raleigh, North Carolina, a taxi can be seen on the plane and appears to slip after taxiing off the runway.
The plane, the Embraer ERJ145, seemed to have just landed and slowed when it appeared to have lost control.
In the video, passengers can be heard shouting as the plane glides over the grass field and says "We are slipping". Once the plane stops, another passenger can be heard saying "I think we've landed."
No one was injured and passengers were taken by bus to the terminal, Blanford said.
American Airlines confirmed that the plane had slipped off the runway due to slippery winter weather.
"Upon landing, American Eagle Flight 4125, operated by Envoy Air, slid off the runway due to icy conditions at Chicago O & # 39; Hare," the airline said. "There is no reported injury. All 38 passengers and three crew members were deported from the plane and are now safely returned to the terminal. "
The forecast in Chicago on Monday was widespread snowfall and gusty winds, with temperatures high of 27 degrees Fahrenheit.
