Mr.Ordon Murray Automotive, a new car manufacturing company set up by the eponymous designer, has announced plans to build a three-seat V12 supercar with a limited run, which costs 2 million pounds.
Designed as a spiritual successor to the McLaren F1, the T.50 will be a big-powered rear-wheel-drive carburetor with a total weight of 980 kg. Its 3,980 cc engine will be among the highest revs, with a red line of 12,100 rpm and peak power of 652 hp.
Professor Gordon Murray CBE, president of the Gordon Murray Group, from which Gordon Murray Automotive is part, said: "The unhappy dedication of light, highly advanced active aerodynamics and the world's leading standards for advanced engineering will provide the T.50 to rewrite the Supercar rulebook.
Our experienced team applies the same uncompromising approach to design and engineer that shaped every aspect of Formula 1, and they can bring significant improvements in relation to that car in every significant way. "
In a press release, Gordon Murray Automobile said the development of the T50 is "in an advanced phase," although no photos are still available, and customers are not expected for another three years. Only 100 T.50 will be built, and each will cost "over 2 million pounds," according to the company.
