Julian auctions announced the sale of the famous gun that Sean Connery wore in the first James Bond movie shown in cinemas, for a price of 256,000 US dollars.
The house said the buyer was an American who preferred to remain anonymous, according to AFP on Friday.
Sean Connery, who died in October at the age of 90, carried this Walter BP pistol in the 1962 film Doctor No.
In this feature film, the British agent is ordered to replace his old Beretta pistol with a Walter model. The film tells him that “US intelligence only uses this type.”
In its various versions, this gun remained the weapon of choice for Agent 007 in subsequent films with a total value of 25.
Walter BP was one of the 500 most prominent pieces in Hollywood cinema to offer Julian auctions at a private auction on Thursday.
Among these parts, the helmet worn by Tom Cruise in “Top Gun”, sold for 108 000 US dollars.
The release of the next installment of the James Bond film “No Time to Die” has been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The film, starring Daniel Craig as Agent 007 for the last time, is expected in April 2021.
According to many, Sean Connery is the best Screen Bond actor on screen. Connery played the role six times, as well as the adapted version of “Never Say Never Again.”
