TTB Central Council member Jerlikaya: we need at least 30 million doses of flu vaccine in Turkey

Due to the fact that the increase in the number of people who will contract seasonal flu with the cooling of the weather can negatively affect the fight against the epidemic of the coronavirus, in the past few days 1 million 500 thousand doses of flu vaccine were imported. Speaking about Sischu, Halis Yerlikaya, a member of the Central Council of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB), said the necessary preparations had not been made for the coron epidemic and that the number ordered for the flu vaccine did not meet the need.

“IN THE PANDEMIC PROCESS, LU PETO HAS INTENSIVE REQUESTS TO BE VACCINATED”

Stating that they called on the Ministry of Health to make the necessary preparations in July regarding the need for a vaccine, the member of the Central Council of TTB Jerlikaya said:

“In fact, this is to be expected. We have made predictions that if the flu and the coronavirus appear at the same time, some negative consequences may occur in that person. In this regard, we stated that the necessary preparations should be made at the time of influenza vaccination and the process should be carried out well at this time. The World Health Organization recommends flu vaccines every day for pregnant women, children aged 0 to 5 years, people aged 65 and over, those with chronic illnesses and healthcare professionals. From the point of view of our country, in our country are mentioned approximately 15 million people with chronic diseases, there are almost 1 million health workers. When you bring all these people together, we see that the number of vaccines we need is too great. Because there was not much flu vaccine in previous years and there was a sensitivity to this vaccine during the pandemic process, people have intense vaccination requirements. Cancer patients over the age of 65 are at risk, and although these people also have diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, COPD, the ministry says people have been vaccinated or not, with a range of algorithms we do not know how to make these people According to the information we received from our friends from family medicine, there is a conclusion about the possibility of a flu vaccine for very few people. Although they are in the risk group, it is stated that most of their patients have not been vaccinated. “The necessary preparations could not be made in this regard and the process cannot be well managed.”

“THE MINIMUM VACCINES SHOULD BE 30 MILLION”

Turkey is a country in the past year Yerlikaya noted that the vaccine can produce words and continues as follows:

“But in 2011, Hafsasaha was completely closed. Why are we at this point about vaccination? We need to talk about them. At the moment there are priority groups to vaccinate at least 15 million for Turkey. But there is not enough vaccine for these groups, but there is no risk, but there is no vaccine. Citizens face health workers for lack of vaccines. The citizen comes to the hospital and says that he wants to be vaccinated, and when we say that the vaccine has not been received, the citizen reacts to this condition. In this case, it stands before us as a headline that paves the way for health violence. From the point of view of the World Health Organization, the number of vaccine groups in Turkey tells them that there must be at least 30 million. There are 7.5 million people over the age of 65, about 14 million people under the age of 65 with chronic diseases. When we add 1 million health workers to these, the number of vaccines should be at least 30 million. “But first and foremost, you need to have the vaccine in Turkey up to half of that number so that it can inoculate people who are at risk.”

“ONLY REGISTERED WITH OUR WARNING”

Making estimates of the increase in cases in recent weeks, Jerlikaya said: “When we look at the increase in cases in the Corona epidemic, it turns out how justified the warnings we have given since the beginning of the process. The coronation process was not conducted transparently, our first emphasis from day one was the call to be transparent in the number of cases. We had to ask questions such as in which provinces the number of cases is increasing and which increases the risk of data transmission so that we can be successful in this fight. However, the release of data on the corona outbreak in Turkey is not a reality. Therefore, at this point, we said that the data is hidden and we estimated the number of cases based on the information we received from the field and the data expressed by our colleagues in the past. At the present stage, we believe that this process is not well managed. We entered the autumn, the weather started to cool down, people will gather more indoors. All these things are all over the world, because we know that we have put them together in the face of the increasing number of these cases in Turkey. At this point, the point we emphasize is that it is not enough to be successful in this process with social distance, hygiene rules and warnings to wear a mask with the responsibility for this process will be placed only on the citizen. What needs to be done is to develop an integrated policy. Part of holistic politics is the stratum of society. “It is necessary to take into account the warnings of scientists, to make a transparent process, to provide social support, to provide social support and to improve the health conditions of health workers in order for society to respect quarantine and isolation rules.
