In 2004, Mercedes-Benz created a car that laid the foundations of the first and second generation CLA. The compact four-door coupe, from 2013, plays emotions and visual appeal, with slightly larger dimensions, this time in spatial efficiency follows the avant-garde limo of Mercedes-Benz. For almost seven years, more than 750,000 vehicles have been sold (including a shooting brake), but in the meantime they have provided only a small renovation. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 85 liters wasted five liters of fuel for just over 100 kilometers, and the new two-liter four-cylinder OM654q with 140 kilowatts already meets the Euro 6D standards that will come into force in 2020. Decreased CLS – an advantage, not a disgust
The OAK is one of those cars that combine avant-garde classics of Mercedes-Benz sedans under one roof, and simultaneously with the emotional charge the younger generation also speaks. Strong gentlemen with a strong financial backdrop will still engage comfortable cars with a star on the bonnet and give them excellent six cylinders. CLA is 4,688 mm and is 48 millimeters longer than its predecessor. At the same time it is also 53 millimeters wider and has a 30 mm long relationship. Due to the extreme dimensions, mainly due to the longer wheelbase, the new generation is considerably more spacious than its predecessor in the passenger compartment. OAC and Class A are closely linked between all beginnings. The brothers share many things, but the biggest difference is always the remarkable look of the CLA model. This time, Mercedes-Benz also produced limousine class A and put it in its wide range of sales, along with CLA. They both speak about a four-door sedan, with almost identical passenger space and virtually the same functions. It is true that CLA is officially a four-door coupe with a shadow on a more focused roofline and adorned with a brighter look, but the differences between them are at least at first glance.
The designers highlighted the sporty character of the CLA model with a wider front (1.612 to 1.567 mm) and rear parts (1.602 to 1.547 mm). As a consequence, due to its character, it was equipped with a slightly different suspension, changed the servo settings and adjusted the anti-slip system. The four-door coupe is also 139 millimeters longer.
Limousine Class A is, of course, more everyday and rational in the functional sense. The OAK is more daring than the design icon of the brand, it also seems to be more irrational.
Robert Leshnik: The design is important, not a designer
"The OAK is a very special car, we can call it a phenomenon. At this moment we have about 40 different cars in Mercedes, some cars have been unchanged for several decades, including, for example, Class C. Here are some new cars that are on It's just a few years ago, for example, CLA. It's an amazing car, and in some markets we found 70 percent of new customers.
How did we get such a number? Not because of the designer, but because of the design itself. Of course, we began to write the story of the four-door coupe in 2003 with the CLS. CLA is the same recipe for the CLA model. Smaller and more accessible, but made according to the same procedure and now without a competitor in its class.
When we created this car in Mercedes, we first created proportions, then we designed it and only then did we finally devote to the details. We lowered the front section by 55 mm and we continued the intercooling by 30 mm. But my favorite part of the new CLA is the larger tire diameter. It does not matter on the edge, but on the tire. The larger the smaller the flat metal. The only one in this segment is a diameter of 660 mm, and all others, including the previous CLA, have a diameter of 645 mm. It does not sound great, but we just offer it, and it's unique. At the same time, we increased the width of the tire.
The previous KLA had many lines. At the time, this was completely in line with the guidelines, we no longer need this now. Because the proportions are true, 70% of my work is done. Let's stay for a short time with diesel engines. We drove a few kilometers in the basic 1.5-liter four-engine OM 608. With 85 kilowatts it certainly does not belong to engines that will impress with power or with a quick acceleration of acceleration, but on the other hand it gives exceptional efficiency. At the end of the planned route, when we drove nearly 130 kilometers, the indicator stopped with an average consumption of 5.3 liters. In this, about 20% of city traffic in heavy traffic, 10% of the highway and the remaining mixed cycle with longer regional speeds, and frequent stops before entering the smaller villages. We are convinced that it would be easy to reduce the average consumption to less than five liters. It is also important to boast for smooth motion of the engine at speed of speed and efficiency of sailing.
The 1,330-cubic Daimler and its allies "Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi" have already achieved results in various test cars.
