This disorder is characterized by an irregular and often fast heartbeat. In Slovakia for 10 years the number of patients has increased by 32 percent.
Physicians draw attention to the significantly growing trend of fibrillation
atriums. This stems from a new report by the Association of Atrial Fibrillation
issued on the occasion of the World Awareness Week on this disease.
Thus, atrial fibrillation is one of the most prominent health conditions
"Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and
it can be an incapacitating disease with life-threatening complications.
His appearance in Europe and Slovakia is still growing. In our country for ten years now
the number of patients increased by 32 percent. It's a complicated disease, but good
can be cured if exposed in time " the president said
From the Slovak Association of Cardiac Arrhythmias Gabriela Kaliska.
Atrial fibrillation is characteristic of irregular and often rapid
cardiac rhythm leading to uncoordinated union of two hearts
atriums. Irregular heart rhythms can cause blood circulation
precipitates because blood can accumulate before pumping into the brain
in the heart. Therefore, the patient is at risk of developing a stroke
associated with atrial fibrillation.
This disease is particularly dangerous in that almost 30 percent
patients do not experience any symptoms. However, it is a progressive disease,
which changes in one of the five affected throughout the year
from moment to constant atrial fibrillation. There's more to it
risk factors – obesity, diabetes, alcohol, heart failure,
the effects of smoking and high age, in people over 65, had eight
The number of patients is growing
"Even in Slovakia, the number of growing people grows
diagnosed atrial fibrillation. Their age is increasing, but
we treat many younger people. Last year, according to the National Health Center
the information had fibrillation of 120,340 people. Of which 22-44 years old
was 17,433. Up to 20 per cent of patients with stroke had malnutrition
established atrial fibrillation. It is generally less known disease
difference from a heart attack. It can be detected by regularly measuring the pulse and each of them
A GP visit should be by measurement. To be
atrial fibrillation can be treated with drugs or catheter ablation,
operatively, we must have an ECG review, " the president said
Slovak Association for Cardiology Peter Hlivák.
Typical symptoms of atrial fibrillation are cardiac failure, irregularly
rhythm, weakness, fatigue or difficulty breathing, but they do not appear for everyone
patient. The doctor finds a diagnosis only when he or she suffers from a stroke.
