The Seattle couple were perfect – or maybe we should say – marriage – a wedding.
Colleen and Iz, who hid their name for privacy reasons, invited six fur cats for their wedding on August 4. You heard about the cocktail – well, it was an hour with cats.
"We are big cats," said TODAY, Colleen. "We will make our cat food from scratch by hand".
Two pair cats, seven-year-old Biedronka and Pangur Ban, were unable to make this big day; The ladybug is blind and Pangur Ban has an irritable bowel syndrome.
"Our cats are very, very special to us and we wanted to bring some of their spirit, honor and love that they brought to our wedding party," said Colleen.
The pair was compromised using a figurine of these two cats as their favorite at the wedding.
Still, they wanted to do something for guests while taking pictures. Colleen is Quaker, so the ceremony took place at Quaker's meeting house, which does not allow alcohol. (The couple decided to save cocktails, which they named after Ladybird and Pangur Ban, for a party elsewhere).
So, for a donation to an animal shelter in Seattle, the couple and their wedding guests were given an hour with a litter of six kittens. Guests were also able to donate to the shelter.
6-week-old females were well cared for at the wedding, with lots of food, water and shade – and love people!
"It was a great opportunity to establish a bond," said Iz. "I think all our guests were cats."
Cats, which Colleen described as "extremely gentle", helped guests relax at the wedding.
"A wedding is a stressful event," said Colleen. "I think everybody feels a bit uptight, a little excited, a bit nervous to come to our wedding and give a kitten, I think it sets the tone for our wedding, that we do not take ourselves too seriously, about the community – and about the little cats."
Despite being very allergic to cats, Colleen did not let her kittens interrupt.
"They smelled like clean laundry," Colleen said. "I doubled over to Flonase for a wedding and let through my love of cats."
Although the wedding took place a few months ago, photos from the kitten's hour were held this week.
In addition to Ladybird and Pangur Ban cats have a special meaning for the pair.
"During one of our first dates, we went to Oakland, and Iz saw the cat on the veranda and talked him into it," Colleen said. "I thought:" If there is someone so sweet and so delicate that every cat wants to play with this person, then there is a girl I have to marry. "
Colleen and Iz hope they will voluntarily take shelter at Seattle Animal Shelter in the future to help create similar cat kits for others.
"We had such a great experience with them that we want to help other people in similar experiences at weddings," said Colleen.
Although the idea may seem unconventional, it may actually be appropriate for weddings.
"Do not throw big parties all the time," Iz said. – When will you have kittens for the party?
