Singapore processes only a small amount of plastic locally; experts say this is unsustainable, environmental news and cutting-edge stories



SINGAPORE – The National Environment Agency (NEA) has revealed that only 7 percent of the plastic collected here in 2018 for recycling is processed locally.

The small percentage is of concern to experts as there is currently too much consumption of such plastic. At the same time, China bans plastic imports, saying it plans to reduce such waste imports to zero by 2020.
