Facebook competes with TikTok thanks to the new short video application

Facebook gives TikTok a chance to get their money by launching Lasso, a new application for short, fun movies, from comedy and beauty to fitness. Thanks to Lasso, users can create and share their videos, follow creators and view videos from other users. Creative tools in the Lasso, such as the ability to adjust the speed or add music, also ensure fun and unique movie-making experience.

In a statement to MarketingFacebook spokesman said: "Lasso is a new standalone app for short, funny movies – from comedy to beauty and fitness, we are excited about this potential and we will be collecting opinions from people and creators."

Meanwhile, TikTok also focuses on short mobile videos, allowing users to express their creativity directly via a mobile phone. According Fortune, users can redirect Lasso videos to history on Facebook and Instagram Stories. Last year, Facebook introduced the Stories function, which includes photos and videos in the user's profile for 24 hours. This feature also has filters and visual geolocation tags. The move was taken over by consumers as an attempt by Facebook to take Snapchat.

Recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he sees the Stories format as the future of the company. However, the transition from the first channel format was not the mildest for the company.

"When WhatsApp Status and Instagram Stories were very successful right away, Facebook Stories started slower, but now it's growing fast and will soon be in a better position," he explained. Meanwhile, the company has also implemented ads on Facebook Stories and WhatsApp Status.
