About five months after the first leaked in the upcoming BMW M8 Competition, the upcoming BMW 8 Series with top cushions reappeared – this time in a different color – on BMW Blog. As the name suggests, the M8's competition will be placed above the "standard" M8 and it is expected to pack 650 hp from the S4B44T4's 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine as seen on the current M5, which is 20 hp more than the M8 base.
What we can see from a single image of red car lines with what we've discovered from the car's previously leaked image, namely, the carbon fiber outer parts, such as the exterior mirror caps, the bumper damping and the bulldozer spoiler. The design of the wheels seen on the blue car, along with the black-accent, should be unique for the M8 competition. Also, the signs of the competition, the carbon fiber triple and the unique seats are expected.
As it stands, the BMW M5 with 600 PS / 750 Nm manages a time of 0-100 km / h of 3.4 seconds, with the M5 625 horsepower that accelerates the same sprint in 3.3 seconds. With their slightly higher results, the M8 and M8 competition should be able to improve these benchmarks.
One speed downstream from the upcoming M8 versions is the M850i xDrive, using the same 4.4-liter V8, but with a lower output meter of 530 hp and 750 Nm. It also has a six-dimensional diesel in the 640d xDrive, which will have 320 hp and 680 Nm. The two-door models – and the 8 Series Convertible – could ultimately receive full M-car treatment, although it remains to be seen whether the Grand Coupe will go on that road.
