We're going to the room, magnum opusfrom Huawei. Do you remember when people bought Huawei phones just because they were beautiful in the Ascend series? Gradually, they began to fit well on the optics, and they joined them Leica in partnership and they were the first to impose a lot bokeh/A wide stop and play with perspective and depth. Huawei has always filmed the big problem. If they overcome these shortcomings below.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro video review, camera section
Huawei Mate 20 Pro inaugurates a new square-shaped room and stays in 3 rooms, like the Huawei P20 Pro, only in a new format. Leica technology he is in positions, and the rooms sound as follows:
- Main camera 40MP, wide angle, opening F / 1.8
- 20 MP Ultra Wide Camera, F / 2.2 Open (new instead of monaural Huawei P20 Pro)
- Telescopic 8 MP camera with F / 2.4 aperture and 3X optical zoom and 5x hybrid zoom
The list does not end here. We also have a laser rangefinder, PDAF, Contrast Focus, dual LED flash, AI functions and optical stabilization. For egois, we get a 24-megapixel camera with an F / 2.0 opening. By the way, artificial intelligence is able to recognize 1500 different scenes. It was amazing that he knew when it was time to take a portrait and even make it easier. This wonderful photo of the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) from the premiere in Romania is done in this way, and AI realizes that the portrait is needed.
Camera application starts quickly, photos are taken very quickly, but there is something skip to zoom in / out because we switch between 3 rooms although. I've seen this especially in the movie, and jumping from 2X to 0.6X without going through 1X leaves a change in the image and a change in color (the wide-angle camera is guilty of this happiness).
The camera's focus is very fast and one of the capture modes is obvious portrait, with new filters and options Studio lightingIt seems to me a little stained glass or blinds, but it's OK Pop. We have and Night mode. aperture. AI Zoom (a novelty that always focuses on the object when we shoot). Continue the list of modes and take monochrome capture, 3D Panorama, Underwater, Bright Paint, Filter, Documents, Slow Motion (up to 960 FPS in HD), AR Lens.
We can also choose 3 color variants: Standard, lively and smooth and there are also moving pictures (Moving photos). Master AI can be turned off if you think it distorts the colors.
Here we go to the gallery and we learn that we have achieved 1000 photos of this phone. In Timisoara and Bazos, Bucharest, Portsmouth and London. I took a phone with me for a small holiday, hence the journey. We start by saying that we have already made a comparison between Apple iPhone XS Max and Huawei Mate 20 Pro, compared to blind voting, and Mate 20 Pro has overtaken this quite clearly at the Apple terminal.
Particularly noteworthy is the dynamic range of the sky, which looks good without being burnt or distorted in color in any way. The zoom is fantastic, and so far Huawei P20 Pro and Galaxy Note 9 created right here, and the iPhone XS Max was not bad. now Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the king of magnification, both during the day and at night. Even photos with 5x zoom or even 8x have great details.
See it in these catches in the zoo, where animals are not allowed to approach, so enlarging is necessary. Look at the head of the ostrich, this bear, the monkey and other creatures. All details are very clear. And this lady who was shot during the premiere of Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) (a colleague of the guild Digi 24) appears on the photo at least 3 times.
Bokeh / Portrait looks good and, unlike the iPhone & xS; and XS XS, it seems to have cut off ears, chins, pockets and other items. It seems to me that these Studio Lighting filters emphasize contrasts on the face and, indirectly, wrinkles. The colors are clearly better calibrated than the Huawei P20 Pro and I have never seen any burning vegetation. Well, it's not even 100% perfect.
I noticed red leaves and the color was distorted to purple, and at some point I took a picture of my T-shirt with the national Netherlands and it's a completely different galaxy than a real orange. Here is a green bean that is slightly radioactive in the restaurant's plate. The colors are turned on, but it happens much less and less than the Huawei P20 Pro.
We do not have excessive exposure anymore, the details look good when enlarging (including on the computer), but in order to obtain the perfect color calibration, you will use the Galaxy Note 9 and the iPhone XS Max. Food snapshots look great, with excellent invoices, and as a technical journalist, I did my great job at the Samsung event, which I still mention. It also helps you zoom when you take pictures in a distant scene.
I feel the need to show that in the foreground with flowers, a nut, a toy statuette, it takes a long time to focus the world on the topic and sometimes the camera focuses on what is behind itIn addition to the undoubtedly good zoom and Bokeh a bit better than the iPhone, I would say that this phone makes the best selfie in 2018. I am referring in particular to their details, brightness, complexion, difficult situations (I had the sun back on the shore of Portsmouth).
Even the background looks good, clothes on me have a good fiber and generally everything looked great. With zoom you go to the pores of the pores. We also have many successful ultra wide-angle snapshots for those who are going on holiday and want to capture more landscapes. The panorama measures 9792 x 2304 pixels, and in the pictures in the rooms we did not notice too much noise
Focus problems on small front-end objects
I say that we exceed the Huawei P20 Pro by 15%, maybe even 20%, if only because we have much less overexposed colors. Practically in addition to 2-3 shades of colors and focusing on the close-up, the room is a perfect day.
At night you know that Huawei Mate 20 Pro defeats XS XS Max quite clearly in the comparative test. Just look at how water looks at these photos with night in the city and running water. It increases to brightness, has less noise, better calibrates colors. This Caten symbol looks more convincing than the iPhone XS Max and the light sources are not sharpened.
And if you want more, darkness and a hint of purple are removed in the night mode. I know that I mentioned in the video review that we have a bit darker than the Galaxy S9 or Note 9. Well, it's fixed in Night mode, which makes the night happen without sacrificing color and transparency. You can beat Night Sight on Pixel 3, at least at first glance and clearly do not regret that you do not have to open F / 1.5 here.
Streetlights and night landscapes have a natural, authentic yellow color, and the alignment of light in the landscape is perfectly made. The clarity is perfect and the colors are even better adapted than in the day. I really have nothing to say here, and even the approximation of this statue in the center of Timisoara is excellent. Street lighting poles are okay and do not have bad reflections
The only downside is when you go to the ultra wide-angle camera at night. He draws reddish, curved images that do not look too flattering. It seems something from the middle phone. It is a pity that most of the concerts take place at night, and if you want to catch the crowd, it will turn red. And the flash was on the graph without drowning the image in white or blue. We have absolutely absolute zoom on the UPC logo (picture without magnification) and Bioclinica (picture without magnification) in Timisoara.
The first photo of place and night.
We are going to capture video, where from the beginning I mentioned two shortcomings: we do not have 4K to 60 FPS and Capturing in Super Slow Motion is simply HD and not Full HD like Samsung. Turning to better feelings, learn that we have a special clarity in capturing video, or only in Full HD. Zoom is perfect and lets you look at this catch at sea or at the zoo with this love ostrich.
The surprising texture of objects and animals is excellent, even when enlarged, and I did not feel any deformation here. Please, skipping the moment of zooming in and inserting 0.6X and delicate image distortion, it returns to 1X with one click on the screen. I would say that we have a good dynamic range, but the sky is often captured at the top of the image, the problem with XS XS Max.
The microphone did quite well with the infernal wind in Portsmouth and I had effective panning without defocusing and blurring the movement. Changes in exposure to a difficult situation on the beach (strong wind towards the sun, dark areas and lighting) have been discreet and adequate. Filming with Selfie was 10 out of 10, absolutely perfect, best in 2018. Look for brightness, sharpness, details, colors. You would say it's the main room, not the front selfie.
The point is that stabilization is not bad in the main room when we walked to the Portsmouth Pier. Zero flickering and perfect lack of sharpness and clarity. The sand and shells had a nice texture and again the colors were on the chart. 4K wharf by the sea is perfect. It seemed to me that a Full HD movie at 60 frames per second was not so clear, it had deformed colors (this blue, blue, whitish sky is ridiculous), so I say to avoid this method of catching. Perhaps the ultra-wide camera contributes to it.
In this way it is excessively exposed. What's safe is that unlike Huawei P20 Pro we do not have x-rays and burns, stabilization is the best in Huawei's history, and zoom is also the first. The Super Slow Motion capture function only works well if you have enough sun, but it still does not seem to be something that Galaxy S9 offers for many months. There are many superlatives, but I say that Note 9 and iPhone XS Max are better.
Low light video captures the Achilles heel. It first drops to 27 frames per second instead of 30 frames per second, and then the image moves seriously when we move or shoot. Street lights would be fine, but there are additional reflections. The colors are on the graphics, all colors are fine, and the size of the haloures is reasonable. I also did panning without blurring, satisfying enlargement and details about narrow planes.
The microphone did the job well again, but I can not go through night stabilization. For this reason, we clearly are below 5-6 other flagship ships. During this shot in the center of Timisoara, after zooming out, the picture became red and became deformed, curved, so be warned. To be honest Night movie is a weak point of the phone and does not feel like updating with P20 Pro or Mate 10 Pro.
However, the photo weighs seriously here and I would say that we have the best camera since 2018and the Huawei video has grown significantly.
