Under current regulations, trains traveling at speeds above 160 km / h must be operated using the ERTMS / ETCS system. It is a cab control and signaling system that, in the event of a driver error, automatically forces the train to travel with the permitted speed or initiate sudden braking.
As the Ministry explained, it is necessary to adjust the regulations that define the conditions for using the ERTMS / ETCS system, also for speeds larger than the currently allowed maximum speed of 200 km / h. In the first place, the speed above 200 km / h will be introduced on the Central Railway that connects Warsaw with Krakow and Katowice.
The amendment of the Regulation eliminates the last legal barrier and enables the construction of a safe, convenient and accurate railway line. It is an example that modern technical solutions should be harmonized with legal changes that will allow their use in practice for the benefit of all rail passengers and customers
– said Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamchik.
The amendment to the decree also provides for other solutions that increase the safety of rail traffic. Among them, among others, introduces a more transparent, precise and driver-friendly signaling system on the speed limitation path. In addition, all indicators for new, modernized and renovated railway lines will be more visible, made from new reflective materials.
Railway undertakings and infrastructure managers must apply the internal regulations within a period not exceeding 6 months from the date of entry into force of the amendment to the Regulation.
The Idzikowice technical station is currently modernizing the Central Railway Line. The exchange covers more than 18 km of songs and 43 excursions. A new control room equipped with computer control devices will be built. The trains will be able to travel there at a speed of 230/250 km / h.
We are preparing the Central Railway to cross a larger number of trains at a higher speed. We exchange the paths, exits and the towing network of the station in Ižikovice, which after the modernization will be able to handle a larger number of trains. The value of the current investments at the intersection of Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Zawiercie is 250 million PLN

The increase in the speed of the crossing of the Central Railway trains will ensure the construction of ERTMS / ETCS level 2 and GSM-R system. These are new systems for control and communication of railway traffic. Thanks to this, traffic management should be more efficient and should give the opportunity to cross a larger number of trains.
