The Peruvian army helicopter went to the Urakusa area this afternoon, near the border with Ecuador, in the province of Kondorkanki in Amazonas. Two people were killed, including the National Police and a military officer.
The victims were identified as Second Officer NCO Aldo Castillo Morales and senior PNP technician, Richard Chavez Alva. In addition, the first injured PNP officer, Wilfredo Lopez Marino, and the second sergeant of the EP, Niller Becker Body, were injured. They were transferred to a hospital in Jaen, in Cayamarca.
The accident occurred at 5:30. The police and military commission have returned from carrying out work to deactivate the mines in the border area.
After knowing the fact, the commander of the Border Brigadier Pinglo battalion moved to the Urakus military base to coordinate work to rescue the bodies. This, however, will only be possible on Saturday.
It was reported that the authorities of the province of Kondorcanki met at an emergency meeting together with representatives of the PNP and representatives of the Public Prosecutor's Office to assess the entrance to the area of the incident. So far, the number of crew traveling on the ship, as well as the reasons for its crash, are unknown.
Police officers are from the National Directorate of Special Operations of Lima.
