Lima Municipality, through the Park Service of Lima (Serpar) and in cooperation with the Municipality olives planted 2,000 trees under the "Plant one tree, one life is born" program, promoted from 2015.
For several hours, gardeners from Serpar and the municipality of Los Olivos directed neighbors to the distribution of various tree species, such as molle serrano, palm trees, tepoms and papelillos.
"With this planting, Lima is approaching a million trees at the end of 2018. Thanks to this municipality (Los Olivos) for contributing to environmental protection," said Edson Tinoco, secretary general of Serpar.
In a statement, the municipality of Lima explained that up to now there were 814.662 trees planted in the capital thanks to the production which takes place in forest nurseries in the municipality located in the Huacar (Villa El Salvador) and Sinchi Roca (Comas) zoned clubs, with a total value of 300,000 and 100,000.
The Municipality of Lima indicated that it is trying to promote the participation of citizens in creating new spaces with green areas and raise awareness of their care and maintenance.
