Danish cruise manager nominated for the new chairman of the board in the Norwegian language

Nils Smedgard, 57, is currently the executive director of the DFDS cruise company, which has been in service since 2007, and had previously had many leadership roles in companies such as Gate Gourmet Group, Swissair and SAS. He is a Danish citizen.

His background is Master. Economics from the Copenhagen Business School and Exchange Program of the MBA from the University of Texas in the United States.

According to the DFDS website, Smedegaard has several board positions, including Interfers, TT Club, Falk Ace, Frederiksberg Foundation and European Shipowners' Associations (ECSA).

The nomination committee recommends that Smedegaard be elected as a new board member, recommending that the board be elected chairman of the board.

Finished in DFDS

At the beginning of March, DFDS sent a stock exchange announcement that Smedegaard decided to serve as head of the company after 12 years. It was then known that he would be seated chief executive by the end of April.

In a comment, Smedegaard said that his time with DFDS was a "fantastic trip".

– I am proud of the progress that the company has had since I started. It was a tough decision to say goodbye, but after running the company for more than 12 years, it's time to move and take advantage of the energy and experience of board positions, he said.

The Nomination Committee of the Norwegian also recommended Ingrid Elvira Leisner as a new board member.

The member of the Board of Directors Ada Kjezet withdrew from the board after the expiration of the election period, said the announcement.

It also appears that Jorgen Stenshagen and Alexander Stendra are leaving the nomination committee. Additionally comes the stock manager Nils Bastiansen of Folketrygdfondet and former journalist, now director of investment for Pareto Asset Management, Fin Øystein Bergh, who are nominated for a nomination committee. There is also outgoing President Bjorn Kisely, who is nominated for re-election to the nomination committee.

They spent 25 years on the board

March 18, it became known that Kise, 68, wanted to be chairman of the Norwegian board after 25 years on board.

– The decision to withdraw from the board of the Norwegian is exclusively mine. It was not a simple choice, but after 25 years on board, many of whom as chairman of the board, I am convinced that this is the right decision. Now I have reached such a mature age that it is natural for me to liberate the new forces. This is also in line with what I informed the Nomination Committee before the General Assembly in 2018, says Kised in the message.

Kisse is part of the Norwegian from the very beginning and was involved in the formation of the company in 1993. Kise is the owner of Norwegian shares through the company Hbk Holding together with the executive director of Bjorn Kjos (72) and their families.

The new Board of Norwegian will be elected to the General Assembly of the company on May 7th.(Terms)Copyright Dagens Næringsliv AS and / or our suppliers.
