Viewers of the British version of “Dancing with the Stars” were left wondering if they would accidentally fall asleep in a fever when two contestants dropped the Simpsons-themed routine.
Strictly come a dancing couple, singer Max George and professional dancer Diane Baswell, channeled their inner Homer and Marge Simpson for the performance, executed according to the iconic Simpsons theme.
While the bizarre routine – complete with donut and couch props and the moment Homer played Marge’s foot as a saxophone – drew praise from the judges, there was one aspect of the routine that took over Twitter.
The fact that the Marge probes were in full view at several points:
“The real Marge would never show her squatting like that #Strictly,” one viewer wrote.
“Bold from the BBC to think that Marge Simpson will wear grandparents #strictly,” jokes another.
“I’m wrong with seeing Marge Simpson ‘s pants! wrote a third.
The duo managed to get 24 points for their performance, but some viewers were not convinced, ridiculously saved the choice of routine on Twitter.
“I honestly feel sick to my stomach, this must be the most cursed video on the Internet,” wrote one particularly dramatic viewer.
The themed dance was part of the show’s “Movie Week”, and singer Max George George joked that he was excited about this week because he wanted to dress like a James Bond – but was given a Homer Simpson costume instead.
