When Harry and Megan signed their huge Netflix deal, they left many royal fans shocked that they agreed to work with the streaming platform behind the royal drama The Crown.
Royal biographer Angela Levine claims that Harry told her a few years ago that the royal family really watched the series, but that he wanted to make sure it would end before his adult life and relationship with Megan, according to Marie Claire.
Harry and Megan reportedly used their partnership with Netflix to insist the Crown ended before they reached their drama – but Levine says the strategy could come back as a result, as Netflix could get “a lot of information that will absolutely condemn the royal family “by the couple.
When Harry and Megan signed their deal with the streaming giant, he answered a few questions about their future, such as what they would do with their time after Megxit and how to achieve financial independence from the rest of the royal family – but that sparked several more .
Many immediately thought of the Crown, which dramatized the dramas and scandals of the royal family. And because the show does not always show royal kingdoms in the brightest light, such as Prince Philip’s involvement in infidelity, some have wondered if the Sussex decision to make a deal with the platform would add even more tension to their tense relationship with the rest of the royal clan.
The Mirror reports that Harry and Megan have used their deal to make demands for the next Crown series – especially as it ends before their dramas. But royal writer Angela Levine said it was a mistake and that the Netflix deal was a “terrible mistake” because the show “mocks Harry’s father, his mother and his grandmother”.
Levin says Harry told the royal family “everyone sees absolutely everything” on the show, but that he “will insist on stopping before he reaches me”.
“I think the way he left the Royal Family, the way he did it and he changed. He is almost unrecognizable by Prince Harry, with whom I spent a lot of time.
“But I think, you know, Megan is desperate to make a lot of money and Netflix offered them something. I think they’re naive because they did a lot of things without realizing that a big company like Netflix would want half a liter of blood.
“They will investigate and get a lot of information that will absolutely condemn the Royal Family.
Viewers will just have to wait for the sixth and final season of the show to see how the drama unfolds.
