Gisborne gets ready for the arrival of the Endeavor replica

A key moment in Aotearoa's history will be recreated on Tuesday with the arrival in Tūranganui-a-Kiwa (Poverty Bay) of a replica of Captain Cook's Endeavor.

The ship will not be met by a ship, as decided by local iwi.

However, iwi will come together at 6am for a karakia to acknowledge their tīpuna who were killed in the first encounters with Cook.

The flotilla will arrive at 8am.
