PSV coach Mark van Bommel insults Nick Wegeriver and Jorite Hendrix for being red in the draw against FC Utrecht on Saturday. With nine to eleven PSVs it couldn't have contributed much to Utrecht's team, which went from 1-0 to a 3-0 victory.
"We gave up the game with two stupid red cards," Van Bommel told Galgenward FOX Sports.
Both Wergever (68th minute) and Hendrix (75th minute) got red after a hard move and interference from VAR. Judge Danny McKelly only had to look at the pictures for a short time to get the red card.
"I haven't seen the violations yet, but if the referee draws a red card so quickly and so convincingly, it says something. Maybe stupid is not exactly the word, but if you are 1-0 behind you should not receive a red card. I certainly blame them for that, they are two experienced guys. Even if they don't know red. I don't think they lost their heads, but it just can't happen. "

"We had a good phase around 1-0"
Van Bommel also sees the red cards as the main reason for PSU's defeat to Utrecht, although the home club took the lead immediately after a 11-1 draw. Wergerever changed the direction of Sander van der Streck's long shot, leaving goalkeeper Sharon Zoet missing.
"We had a good phase around 1-0," Van Bommel said. "We also managed to score a goal. There was nothing wrong with that, but then you have to stay in the match."
"With ten against eleven, I also believed in it, and even with nine men we were pushing for it. I can't blame the boys for it. Everyone fought to the end, but with two men less it's much harder."

Wergever and Hendrix are probably missing the AZ duel
With the goals of Adam Maher and John Clauber becoming more painful for PSV, who will be defeated in next week's home game against the AZ over Utrecht's 'red' night. It is likely that Weiwegever and Hendrix will be suspended, making them inaccessible to the Alchemists. The KNWB Disciplinary Committee will examine the cards on Monday.
Wergever and Hendrix will be able to take action next Thursday. PSV then play at home in the Europa League against LASK Linz. The match at Philips Stadium begins at 9am.
