After the brake breakdown, the semi-trailer hit cars on the Mexico-Toluca highway, near Puerta Santa Fe, which killed at least 9 people (eight men and one woman), according to the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) in Mexico City.
The SSP stated that there are 16 injured people who are already treated in various hospitals.
The accident took place on kilometer 14,5 of the Mexico-Toluca and Prolongación Gómez Farías highways, in the district of Peña Blanca, in the municipality of Álvaro Obregón CDMX.
SSP reported that a 41-year-old woman is being investigated, "who allegedly ran a trailer from Toluca to Cuautitlán Izcalli, Mexico, when she hit several vehicles that were damaged."
The C5 informed that the Ministry of Public Security and emergency services had arrived in order to look after the wounded.
