Manchester United are ready to secure the signing of French star Moussa Dembele in a £ 45m deal, according to reports.
The Red Devils have been light up front since the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan in the summer.
And Dembele's current side Lyon could be persuaded to let them go amid rumors they've already lined up a replacement – Chelsea's Olivier Giroud.
The former Fulham man has been in fine form since joining Lyon from Celtic, scoring 22 goals in 43 league matches including seven in 10 this term.
It was previously believed the French outfit wanted as much as £ 71m for their man.
But it is now thought they may be willing to accept an offer around the £ 45m mark.
Sources close to the player also claim Dembele would be keen on a return to England, especially for a top club such as United.
City in the mix
Manchester City have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho – according to reports.
Sancho left the Blues for Germany but has been linked with a sensational return to the Premier League.
SportBild claim United face unexpected competition from City for its signature and suggest the 19-year-old would cost £ 100m.
Nemanja Matic could be on his way out of Manchester United in January – and Inter Milan are said to be waiting in the wings.
The Italian giants have already taken Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez away from Old Trafford, and the Serbian midfielder could make it a hattrick.
Despite United's worst start to a campaign for 30 years, boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has still been reluctant to use Matic with the Serbian appearing in just four of 11 matches so far.
His last appearance came in a dismal 0-0 draw in the Netherlands against AZ Alkmaar and he was overlooked for the 1-0 defeat at Newcastle in the club's last Premier League game.
The 31-year-old's lack of playing time has seen him become a target in January with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.
