2019 Apple iPhone to use various antenna technologies to reduce production costs, increase productivity?

According to a reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is now boring for TF International, Apple iPhone 2019 models will use a different configuration of antenna technology. Headphones for the iPhone from 2018, including iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, use 6 liquid crystal antennas (LCP). The Kuo report for customers was seen by AppleInsider, and the analyst tells customers that next year's iPhones will store a pair of LCP antennas and will use modified polyimide (MPI) technology for the four remaining antennas.

The analyst lists several reasons for change. Kuo notes that LCP antennas are difficult to produce and are fragile. MPI antennas are easier to produce and have higher efficiency. If Kuo is right and Apple switches to a mix of 4 MPI antennas and 2 LCP antennas for future iPhone, the shipments to Apple from LCP antennas will fall by more than 70% in the second half of 2019.

Initially, Apple went to the antenna of LCP with Apple iPhone X in 2017. Adding MPI antennas would increase the number of antenna suppliers used by Apple from two to five. The company likes to add suppliers because it gives it an advantage when negotiating prices, and also allows Apple to have alternative suppliers in the absence of certain ingredients.
