A well-known futurist in the world of technology, Michael Ludden, an expert on Artificial Intelligence, comes to Lithuania. On November 15, Baltic Mobile Congress, a virtual and complemented reality specialist at an international conference on the mobile economy in Vilnius, will tell you how our lives will be replaced by a virtual and complementary reality. According to him, very interesting changes await us.
Muddy Ludden, technology provider at IBM Watson, Samsung, Google and others, says that today we meet artificial intelligence every day, and for the next 5 years it will cover all our areas of life.
You are the co-author of several books on transhumanism and supernatural reality. These publications will soon go to bookshops. Who are you most interested in today's technological innovation?
Today I am most interested in observing the effects of artificial intelligence on virtual and complementary realities and how it will change the world in which we live, work and study. Already, imaging technology, virtual and augmented reality, is applicable in education, sport, treatment and safety. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I observe unexpected areas of our lives in the coming decade to embrace this technology and how it will positively change our daily lives.
Artificial intelligence has the ability to learn and improve. What, in your opinion, is the level that he achieved at that time?
I always say there are two ways of talking and evaluating artificial intelligence. Above all, there is a narrow artificial intelligence that does some things very well, but can not decide for itself to study and develop itself in other areas. For example, scientists can teach artificial intelligence to defeat the world's best Go strategy player, but this artificial intelligence will never succeed in love affairs.
What's the second way?
It is an evolving artificial intelligence that can decide for yourself what you want to do. For example, he plays chess, but decides that he wants to learn how to draw and he is doing well. Currently, we have many examples of narrow artificial intelligence in the world, but we do not have the second type yet. Unfortunately, we are still far from it and it is still difficult to predict when artificial intelligence will reach a higher level.
Skeptics fear that virtual reality will take away work from people. Can this happen?
If we look at this story, we see that people were always afraid that technology would take their place and take their job. On the contrary, experience shows that they help to do work faster, easier and more efficiently. Millions of years ago people built pyramids and stone wings, and today's builders can handle huge machines that make their work easier. Thanks to artificial intelligence people will no longer have to enter data into Excel tables or perform other digital tasks better done by devices. People will not go away, they will just manage these processes.
What do you think is artificial intelligence after 5 years?
In the five-year perspective there will be no area where artificial intelligence will not be used. Everything – from medicine to games, from business to marketing – will inevitably affect artificial intelligence. I believe that it will not be five more years when artificial intelligence becomes routine in our daily lives.
