Three engines, zero emissions
on DS 7 Crossback E-Tense 4×4 plug-in hybrid version (ie it can be refilled despite slowdowns, even by electricity) of the spacious French luxury car: 1.6 turbo petrol and two electric motors (one is dedicated to rear-wheel drive, creating an integral gearbox without transmission shaft) delivers a total of 300 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque. The battery weighs 120 kg and is located under the sofa; it has a capacity of 13.2 kWh and, according to the house, allows you to travel up to 58 km in electric mode, provided you do not exceed 135 km per hour. It takes from two to eight hours to complete, using either a 6.6 kW wall box or a 2 kW home outlet; 4 are used with continuous carry power up to 3.2 kW. These operations can also be managed and programmed using the special mobile application, while other remote functions such as operating locks and glass are still missing. Will arrive, but not soon; on the other hand, they should also be available for cars that are on sale today.
Luxurious, but not generous
on DS 7 Crossback E-Tense 4×4 Business Base (€ 51,050) has dual climate zone, lane departure warning, 12.3 "digital dashboard, charging plate for compatible mobile phones, multimedia navigator system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, distance sensors, also front, automatic braking of up to 140 km / h, 19 "wheels and suspension for active DS scanning. The latter, in practice, are electronically controlled dampers whose calibration resolves moment by moment electronics based on the unevenness of the ground "read" by a camera mounted behind the windshield. The Grand Chick of the test (€ 54,350) ious curiously makes no wireless charging and mats (they are paid 150 and 100 euros respectively), but adds lane maintenance, signpost recognition displayed on the dashboard, interior led lighting, keyless access , rear view camera and front seats and height adjustable. Given the price, we expected more: at least 3,200 euros were spent on leather interiors, while another 1,100 were used for automatic led lights, while 1,800 euros were spent on electrically adjustable seats. Even the most advanced driving aids are paid for separately: The Advanced Connected Pilot Safety Package costs € 2,200 and includes, besides fully guided headlights, a camera that detects driver fatigue and adaptive cruise control, which also manages stop and re-enable everything is in order.
Makes a scene, but …
Inside and out, it's hard to recognize this version DS 7 Crossback E-Tense hybrid than others. Also because, unlike other hybrid versions of "normal" cars, space is inferior: neither to humans nor to luggage. And it has many centimeters on the DS 7 Crossback. Other qualities and defects are also unchanged, which can mainly be summarized in refined finishing (quality Opera leather, 4600 euros) and improved ergonomics: some solutions are more attractive to design than practical; for example, console windows are "camouflaged" with other controls or a digital dashboard with configurable, but not always readable graphics based on rhomboid elements and slim characters. The start button, which is located at the top of the 12 "screen (just below the motorized clock), is also inconvenient. The responsiveness of the multimedia system is also not bad compared to that of the first DS 7 Crossbacks, but we are not there yet. at the level of the best rivals, too, in terms of ease of use and a wealth of features. The 12.3 "screen also controls heated and ventilated seats and a dual climate" climate ": physical controls would be less distracting.
Character of choice
Numerous driving modes on DS 7 Crossback E-Tense 4×4: Apart from Electric that forces the car to go electric only, there are also the "Hybrid", Comfort (calibration of shock absorbers becomes softer) and Sport. In the latter, the steering becomes heavier and the engine response faster. In particular, the contribution of the rear electric unit is noticeable, allowing you to accelerate with excellent cornering output without suffering from grip. In any mode, however, this E-Tense delivers high performance and is able to mask more than 1,800 kg of weight, offering good comfort even at high speeds. As far as fuel consumption, in a more disadvantageous situation to the hybrid, is the highway (where energy is constantly wasted), the battery discharges at 31 km. From that point on, we continued for several tens of kilometers on the slippery hillsides: at the end, we saw 11.4 km / l on the plane (22.7 counting the first section as "zero consumption"). Not bad considering the car's performance and over 1800kg.
According to us
> Comfort. Suspension of DS Active Scan "smooths" the road and provides sound insulation.
> End. Especially with the rich environment in the opera house (4600 euros), the materials and fittings they convince and the interiors have a special personality.
> space. The boot space is large and generous (not less than the DS7 non-hybrid barriers).
> commands. Some buttons have an "unfortunate" location and we would prefer to have air conditioning physicists.
> board. It allows you to choose from many graphics, but not all of them stand out for their readability
> Fund. Given the nearly 55,000 euros needed, you would expect at least fake leather interiors and more driving aids.
