Koldiretti: "Agreement with dairy Biragi was awarded"
Cagliari. The sale of Ethiopian solidarity Pecorino Biragi, which rose even further in October, set a monthly record as it went on the market, selling over 125 quintals, 20% more than in the same month of 2018. Born in March 2017, born in March 2017, thanks to a deal between Biragi Dairy and Calderetti Sardegna, Ethiopian Solidarity Pecorino guarantees fair compensation for shepherd's milk. It is a grated mixture of 70% pecorino and 30% Gran Biragi (cow cheese), 100% made in Italy. The deal was signed amid a full-blown dairy crisis when Roman Pecarino's price fell to 4.20 per kilogram and milk price to 60 cents per liter, below production costs.
Biragi signed with Caldiretti the first real chain deal in the ethical-solidarity sector, with the purchase of co-opecorene at a price that guarantees fair compensation for the shepherds and never below the cost of production (6.20 euros / kg pectorino corresponds to 0.85 cents / liter of shepherd's milk). And, in fact, in 2017 he paid percorino for 6.20 euros / kg, versus 4.20 euros for the market. Market-awarded deal: in October, just over two years after signing the deal, sales reached 31% of the weighted distribution in the Iper + Super channel, with over 3400 outlets across Italy. Thanks to this agreement, the Dorgali Shepherd Co-operative sells 1250 quintals of pecorino al Biragi (equivalent to 5,000 shapes) each year, guaranteeing a minimal price and therefore the opportunity for the cooperative and pastors to plan.
"Thanks to the nonsense of Biragi, we show that supply chain deals are possible that guarantee a minimum price," says Calderetti Sardega President Batista Kualbu. A true project rewarded by the market and by consumers who appreciate 100% made in Italian products and guarantee a fair price for the whole chain, starting with the shepherds. " (ANSA)
