An eight-year-old boy was brought to the University Hospital Cork early this evening with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a car in Vitekurk, north of the city of Cork, immediately after 7 pm.
"Gardaí in Gurranabraher examined the RTC that occurred in Whitechurch this evening, on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 7.20 am," said a Guardian spokesman.
"An 8-year-old boy was hit by a car and was taken to CUH with injuries that are not life-threatening," the Guardian's office confirmed.
The driver of the car is a woman in her thirties, who was unharmed.
Gardai says investigations are underway.
