A service offering tests to women who could inherit a gene that leaves them with an increased risk of breast cancer was suspended for a few months at St. James & # 39; s Hospital in Dublin.
Actress Angelina Jolie, who had this test, had double mastectomy in recent years to prevent breast cancer.
A hospital spokesman said the family risk service had been suspended since April because of breast radiography requirements for symptomatic patients.
She said that recently they have received funds to replace one mammography machine and purchase a third one, which will probably be available at the beginning of next year. This will help alleviate the delay in patients waiting for mammography.
