JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhajir Efendi said that the supplement for annual leave and the replacement of Idul Fitri’s absence in December will soon be discussed at the ministerial level.
The discussion was a continuation of the request of President Yoko Widodo (Yokovi), who wanted to reduce the holiday at the end of the year and leave the replacement for Idul Fitri in December.
Muhajir said discussions related to this at the ministerial level would soon be discussed on Thursday (26/11/2020).
“God forbid, it will be discussed at the ministerial level on Thursday,” Muhajir told Compass.com, Tuesday (24/11/2020).

At the moment, Muhajir said, discussions related to this are still ongoing in the first echelon of officials between related ministries / agencies.
Muhajir also said his party could not predict what decision would be made later in the discussion.
“(Now) an official in the echelon is being discussed across ministries / agencies,” he said.
As previously reported, President Jokovi requested a reduction in the holiday supplement and a replacement for the Eid holiday in December.
It aims to prevent people from gathering on holiday, causing a jump in the Covid-19 cases.
“On the issue of the holidays, the joint absence at the end of the year, including the holidays instead of a holiday with Eid al-Adha, Mr. President gave directions for a reduction,” Muhajir said after a limited meeting at Merdeka Palace, Akakarta, on Monday (23 / 11/2020).

Muhajir said Jokovi advises to do everything possible to prevent the people, including reducing vacations and absences.
The reason is that the government does not want the Covid-19 cases to increase again.
Meanwhile, the government changed the holiday with Eid al-Adha from May 2020 to December 2020 due to the Covid-19 epidemic that occurred in the country.
“The additional leave with Eid al-Adha, which was originally on May 26-29, 2020, was canceled and moved to the end of the year on December 28-31, 2020,” Muhajir said on Thursday (4/9/2020).

On another occasion, Covid-19 working group spokesman Viku Adisasmito said the long holiday would have an impact on increasing positive cases of coronavirus or Covid-19 nationwide.
This is known based on the experience of the long holiday last August.
“Given previous experiences, long holidays have an impact on increasing positive cases nationally. So, the impact is not only in the regions, but also nationally,” Viku said in a press release posted on YouTube to the Presidential Secretariat. Tuesday (27/10/2020))

Viku said the increase in cases at the time was because people were busy taking time off to travel or return to their hometowns.
On the other hand, the health protocols for the prevention of Covid-19 were not implemented properly and correctly.
“In this regard, we urge the public to stay away from crowded areas during the holidays. “Keep reuniting with your family at home,” Viku said.
The proposal to cut holiday spending at the end of the year and replace the Eid al-Adha holiday in December was also made after Indonesia’s Covid-19 case took another leap after a long holiday that ended late last October.
