A condition in which a person does not have enough tears to lubricate and nourish an eye can be described as a dry eye. It can make your life unhappy. You can feel annoying and frustrated because of this constant irritation. You can show symptoms such as eye itching, burning, red eyes, tired eyes and blurred vision. It can leave you alone and can make your productivity more difficult. You will not be able to focus on your daily activities.
According to studies, this can be a serious problem because this condition can slow down the speed of reading a person by 10 percent and can make it difficult to read for over 30 minutes. Is not that shocking?
Apparently, those with a clinically relevant dry eye could read fewer words per minute than those without a condition who read at a rate of 272 words per minute. We are not kidding here!
Apparently, according to Esen Akpek of the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute in the USA, people with dry eyes were not able to maintain a good reading because their tears can not lubricate the eye area quickly enough.
The study involved 186 adults aged 50 years or older, published in the journal Optometry and Vision Science. In addition, participants did not use the prescription or eye drops for 24 hours prior to the test.
Apparently, all participants of the study have reacted to the deterioration of vision quality in the eyes and the impact on the environment for eye discomfort, such as wind or smoke.
According to Akpek, people with dry eye symptoms such as stinging, changing vision and dryness may opt for eye drops, but they should also undergo professional tests and diagnostics. This can help them solve the problem.
