Singer spokeswoman Lata Mangeshkar urged everyone not to pay attention to the rumors as it gets better. A spokesman said in a statement: "Lata Didi is stable and getting better. Asking please, do not heed unnecessary rumors and react. Let us all collectively pray for her long life instead. "

Mangeshkar, 90, was admitted to Breshi Candy Hospital after complaining of difficulty breathing in the early hours of Monday.

Hospital sources say the singer shows "some signs of improvement, but it will take time to recover".

In his more than seven-decade career, Mangeshkar has sung over 30,000 songs in languages.

She is considered one of the biggest playback singers in Indian cinema. She received Bahrain Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, in 2001.

Mangeshkar's last full album was for the late 2004 director Yash Chopra, directed by Weir-Zara in 2004.
