Lallana wants Liverpool not to repeat the shock of Red Star

Adam Lallana admits that Liverpool players must bear the blame for their unsuccessful struggles in the Champions League after a defeat with the shock of Red Star Belgrade.

Jurgen Klopp wasted a comfortable position in group C, after losing two last three games.

The 2-0 loss at Red Star on Tuesday was a serious blow, given that they had lost to Napoli earlier in the campaign.

The Reds will face Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital and Naples at home in the final group match, and their progress to the last 16 are suddenly uncertain.

The loss of the French champions PSG will make them face sharp penalty kicks against Napoli and Liverpool midfielder, Lallana knows that his team has no excuse for their troubles.

Lallana, still returning to full sharpness in the match after the break caused by the injury, knows that it's time to get promoted to the team that finished as the Champions League winner last season.

"As competitors, we have to take full responsibility and make sure it does not happen again," said Lallan LFCTV.

"It is still in our hands – if we win the next two games that we are going through, but it was a great opportunity for us.

"It will be very difficult. This is the Champions League – there are no teams that take part in those competitions that give you winnings.

"It was not like us and we have to go further and improve if we intend to go to knockouts.

"Of course there will be a reaction, not the first time we lose the game, it's about how you react and bounce, but we are completely disappointed that we can leave (from Belgrade) with nothing."

Liverpool have won just three of the last nine games against Red Star, Cardiff and Huddersfield.

They scored from a corner, and the second because of the loss of possession and a quick counterattack against the Red Star.

"It was a slow start and we really gave them too many opportunities, especially from sets," said Lallana.

"We had chances, but we were not ruthless enough, we were not patient enough, it's not like us, it's our responsibility and we have to fight off in the next two games."
