Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh tries Interpressor 650 to promote tourism

Pema Kandu shared more photos of the ride on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.

New Delhi:

The lush green backdrop, scenic scenery and the rider zoom in through the hilly roads of Arunachal Pradesh. The man who is seen riding is not an ordinary cyclist. He is Pema Kandu, chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh. Mr Kandu, who posted the video he drove through the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, said it was his "modest attempt" to promote tourism.

"Video of a motorbike journey from Jinkyong to the Passigat," said BHP's announcement, Pema Kandu, covering a 122km stretch of Arunachal County's headquarters in Arunachal, known for its enriched scenery and tranquility.

The chief minister described the ride as "a humble attempt to promote Arunachal as a destination for cycling dreams and adventure sports".

"The 122km motorbike ride from Jinkyong to the Passig on October 13, 2019. I started my bike ride from the Yingkiong circuit house at 8pm and arrived at Passig Airport at 10.30am. The route offers the best scenic views of the valley and the villages of Adi, "Mr. Kandu said.

This is not the first time Chief Minister Kandu has been spotted on a bicycle. He has ridden other bikes at Royal Anfield in the past, and was seen riding with Salman Khan last year. Mr Kandu widely uses his social media accounts to promote tourism across Arunachal Pradesh with hashtags like #AmazingArunachal and #VisitArunachal.

Part of the Passigat, 270 kilometers from the capital Itanagar, lies along the banks of the Siang River, the main tributary of the Brahmutra River. The area is popular for cycling and other adventure sports.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is the first attempt of a mid-weight-based motorcycle manufacturer in Hanai, a 650cc parallel twin with a 270-degree firing engine, delivering 47 BHP of power and 52 NM of torque.

The retro-styled motorcycle was launched last November, along with its siblings, the Continental GT 650, and quickly became the country's best-selling mid-size motorcycle. The Royal Enfield Twins, as they are called, have also been favorably received by Western markets, mainly because of their disruptive pricing strategy and focus on simple motorcycling.
