Very similar designs

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 like the Huawei P30 Pro each offers good handheld comfort and yet, both smartphones are relatively dense and almost heavy – especially the first one quoted. What could have been an ugly mistake in the end is not disturbing, especially thanks to its well-finished finishing, especially at the level of curved edges of the screen.

Before that, it would be difficult to distinguish the two devices when they are extinct, so they are similar to the discreet flattery on their fronts. Please note that you have the right to a fingerprint reader under the screen in both cases. At the rear, on the glass face, the confusion is still (a little bet): The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is really inspired by the Huawei P30 Pro.

The brand logo is glued in almost the same way and the look of the photo module vertically in the upper left corner is also very similar … to some details. The Mi Note 10 has really five photo lenses, including three under the same layer of glass – that's where the P30 Pro feels the most.

The other two Xiaomi Mi Note 10 sensors are located further. Unfortunately, we tend to put our finger on the last small goal regularly. Note also that the main part of the photo module is particularly prominent, much more than the Huawei P30 Pro.

In this respect, it's really in this small detail that the P30 Pro's grip is thinner than the Mi Note 10. It's a very short head win, but a win anyway.

The screens are very similar

6.47 inches vs. 6.47 inches, Full HD + vs. Full HD +, AMOLED vs. AMOLED … you'll understand, like the very similar aesthetics of the two smartphones reviewed today, their tablets also share many features. Each time, we have the right to a high-quality display with maximum brightness and high contrast that tends to infinity.

Also, in both cases, we have to deal with cold colors by default, but this detail is correct on the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 as the Huawei P30 Pro.

It's true that on the Xiaomi smartphone, the environmental sensor is a little slow to relax at times, but on the whole, our two opponents of the day end up ex-aeco on the quality of their screen. I wonder if the two brands didn't use the same supplier.

Software: two schools

Over time, the Huawei P30 Pro's EMUI interface slowly but surely came closer to Google's vision for Android with, among other things, an app drawer and more in line with what Mountain View recommends.

For its part, the Mi Note 10 runs naturally under MIUI 11, which is extremely rich in customization, but whose organization goes against Google's guidelines. It takes a long time for adaptation to adapt to it and to master all the subtleties.

However, on both smartphones, you can enjoy dark mode, gesture navigation, always-on display or 2D facial recognition. In addition, the experience is very fluid on both sides, with Huawei's significantly more aggressive RAM management.

When it comes to application icon design, EMUI often stands out for its old-fashioned design, while we would be lying if we say MIUI is unanimous in this respect. In addition, Xiaomi's home interface still suffers from some display problems in its French version, especially with regard to Moliere's Chinese translations which are not always reliable.

Error displaying MIUI 10

Therefore, it will essentially be a matter of personal taste, but we believe that European users tend to aim for EMUI.

As for the updates, the Huawei P30 Pro has already got Android 10, while the update is scheduled on the Mi Note 10, but we don't know exactly when. Good to know it says: The app drawer is approaching MIUI 11.

Photo quality: two champions

As for the quality of photography, we are dealing with two great smartphones. Let's first configure the Mi Note 10:

  • 108 megapixel main sensor, f / 1.69;
  • ultra-wide 20-megapixel, f / 2.2, 117 degrees;
  • 12 megapixel x2 phone lens, f / 2.0;
  • 5 megapixel x5 phone lens, f / 2.0;
  • 2 megapixel macro lens with autofocus of 2 to 10 cm.

And now, here's one from the P30 Pro:

  • 40 megapixel main sensor, f / 1.6;
  • ultra-wide-angle 20 megapixels, f / 2.4 120 degrees;
  • 8 megapixel telephoto lens x5, p.2,4
  • TOF Depth Sensor

I firmly remember that both smartphones offer exceptionally good picture quality, and daylight and low light with a slight advantage over the P30 Pro in terms of dynamics management. The level of detail is every time very impressive and the real difference is especially in the treatment of the slightly more natural colors of the Mi Note 10…. really very easy.

Quality is always at the top of the ultra-wide angle of both smartphones as long as you use this mode in favorable light conditions, as you can see below.

Huawei P30 Pro

What's interesting about these two smartphones is their versatility in photography thanks to their impressive zoom capabilities. Both cameras are capable of providing optical x5, x10 hybrid and x50 digital zoom and every time it's fun to have fun with it to test different shots.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 (zoom x2, x5, x10 and x50)

Huawei P30 Pro (zoom x5, x10 and x50)

The level of detail is frankly well preserved on the x10 zoom, but the Huawei P30 Pro clearly dominates the debate as you go about increasing the x50 much more detailed and relevant than the Mi Note 10.

In turn, the Xiaomi smartphone offers macro lenses capable of focusing on objects that are very close to the photo sensor for original renders for posting on social networks.

In the meantime, portrait mode is great for both smartphones. Neither more nor less. Below, the image on the left is taken with the Mi Note 10 and the one on the right with the P30 Pro.

In summary, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 and Huawei P30 Pro are picture-perfect and enjoy their versatility. Unfortunately, when announcing this comparison, the Xiaomi smartphone suffers from a particularly disabling delay in its photo app that drastically destroys the user experience. For this reason the Huawei P30 Pro dominates.

Performance: Kirin 980 advantage

Here's the duel between the Snapdragon 730G for the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 and the Kirin 980 for the Huawei P30 Pro, each with 6 GB of RAM in support.

If the Snapdragon 730G is perfect for everyday tasks, the Kirin 980 beats it in terms of raw power. This feels like a game like Fortnite where the Mi Note 10 can't exceed the average graphics level, while the Huawei P30 Pro doesn't have any problems at that level.

Especially since you can enable a particularly efficient performance mode on your Huawei device.

Autonomy: very great autonomy against great autonomy

On the one hand, we have a huge 5260 mAh battery for the Mi Note 10 which offers very high durability of the smartphone. The percentages in the small battery-shaped icon drop very slowly, reassuring the user, even during the longest and most energetic sessions.

For its part, the P30 Pro is entitled to a 4,200 mAh battery as well as a very satisfactory one, but only slightly less impressive than its competitor today. Autonomy is therefore not lacking in Huawei's device, but let's just say Xiaomi managed to handle it better. The two smartphones are really close to each other.

Conclusion: which is the best smartphone?

Overall, the Huawei P30 Pro offers a more user-friendly user experience than the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, but it does show some detail. Its design is a bit better mastered, its interface seems more suited to conventional Western users, its performance is more impressive and the camera doesn't suffer the same mistakes as its opponent.

In contrast, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 benefits from greater autonomy, but one must bear in mind that durability cannot be clearly mentioned among the defects of the Huawei P30 Pro. Finally, the screens of the two smartphones are impossible to separate.

However, even if its price drops significantly, the Huawei P30 Pro still costs more than 600 euros and should use a nice price drop to find it at the same price as the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, more attractive to that level.

To go further, do not hesitate to find the tests on both smartphones:

Price and availability

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is released on November 18 in France at a recommended rate of € 549. In contrast, as we said, the Huawei P30 Pro is approximately 650 euros.
