Members of the French National College of Gynecologists and Obstetricians (CNGOF) urge the state to create "regional expert centers" dedicated to the pathology.
Asked inside The Parisian this Wednesday, François Gaulier, chairman of the commission
endometriosis of the association, believes that these places "will organize care, will provide training, promote better learning, will develop research". The doctor called for the opening of about thirty places.
Warned by the Ministry of Health
Gynecologists write to the Ministry of Health. It is high time for us to set up these "federative skills" centers. "We are wasting valuable time for patients. They are tired of thinking, we have to act," the specialist warns.
He condemns the government's "blockages" for budgetary reasons and considers that inappropriate alternatives are proposed. Especially since the United Kingdom has this structure "for ten years".
"Unknown illness" by some professionals
As François Golière says, members of the CNGOF are "extremely determined to fight" to improve the management of the disease that affects one to ten women at birth. "The pain of intensity and the deterioration of the quality of life (…) must be alert. The inability to go to school or work because of their rules to be socially embarrassed is not normal," explains the gynecologist.
The doctor also denounced that "the disease remains unknown to many professionals, hence the importance of the initial training, but also continuously." Be aware: today, endometriosis is not on the curriculum of medical examination! It only takes on the political will for to fix it. "
