Anto Jakob and Rafael Poiriet lead the award

Anto Jakob and Rafael Purier is the title of the second performance by Luna Scenes for the 2018-19 MainStage season, the Camilo Almonacid task. The play emerged from real conversations between perpetrators of violence from weapons and victims, and explores friendship, loss and forgiveness. David Winitsky directs the task for a limited two-week engagement, starting on Thursday, November 29th.

Meet Julian J. Torres, played by Poueriet, a sick student 37-year-old grantee who is trying to rewrite life after troubled youth and prison time. Helen Payne, played by Anto Jakob, is a brilliant and reserved English professor who is recovering from the tragedy. At the beginning of the original state, Dr. Payne was conquered by Julian's intelligence and charisma. The two amazing friends connect through the power of great literature.

Anto Jakob was born in Ethiopia and raised in San Francisco and Minnesota. She was last seen on stage at the 2017 United States Theater Festival at her show "In The Gray." The Anta credits include "The Resurrected" from the "Dough" (Sam French OOB "Victory for Short Games"), "The Greed for the Sun" (Theater 167 and the Kampala International Theater Festival 2016) in the original Continental Contour (Primary stages ) and a Jew on the Ethiopian Street Theater for mixed blood). It served as the voice of Zema in the radio "Shadowbahn", adapted to the BBC. Film and television credits include signs of aging, Daravale, the night comes on, gypsy and law and order: SIA.

Rafael Puriet spent his early childhood in the Dominican Republic and moved to Queens, New York, when he was six. He appeared in more than a dozen film, television and theater productions. The latest credits include Independent Film Hearts Beat Loud, as well as TV shows Orange Is The New Black, Mr. Robot and The Blacklist. Rafael is also involved in the upcoming Marvel series on Netflix. His first stage exhibition was opposed by the jazz-great Di Di Bridger at Lady's Day at the Little Schubert Theater. Recently, Raphael performed in When I Go to the Duke's Theater. In addition to acting, Raphael is a firefighter with FDNY.

David Vinitsky directed by Santander diaries on the Luna stage in Montclair. As founder and executive artistic director of the Jewish Play project, a national incubator for new Jewish plays and musicals, David has developed 49 plays, 27 of which went to production in New York, London, Tel Aviv and around the United States. His New York directing / assistant credits include Dislocated Wedding (New World Theater Project), Beautiful Flat Work (14th St. Y.), Brook Berman While we did not meet another (the best of the festival, MITF). Vinic called the Assignment "a moving and human mediation of the ways in which we want to find meaning, forgiveness and continuation".

Camilo Almonakide is a playwright and actor from New York, born in Bogota, Colombia and raised in the United States. The award, commissioned by House of the Musical Theater House, was produced at Off-Broadway at the Theater / New York theaters in April 2017. Artistic director Arie Laura Crete chose this play for her inaugural season as "Luna produces plays that engage the deepest challenges that we face as a culture and connects seemingly impossible divisions."
