Highland – A season of acute respiratory illness is observed. In the 46th calendar week, seven percent of patients joined the Vysocina region, the disease for the first time in the upcoming season exceeded the threshold of nine hundred patients and reached 921 patients per one hundred thousand inhabitants.
Six percent of patients in the Czech Republic last week and 1021 cases per 100,000 are currently in the country.
True flu viruses have not yet appeared in the mountains. "But diseases with flu-like symptoms and complications in viral diseases caused by viruses from non-influenza are beginning to emerge," said Alena Dvorhakova, director of the anti-epidemic department at the Regional Health Institution in Vysocina, described the latest development of acute respiratory diseases.
From the point of view of individual areas, in mid-November, the highest cases of disease in the Pelhrimov region (990 cases) and in Trschechka (965 cases), hygienists in both areas experienced a similar increase in the disease as in the whole region. Significantly, for twenty percent, the disease in the Havlichkov Brod rose last week, but remains below the national average (899 cases). It is even smaller in Jihlava, where, after a nine percent increase, the last 870 patients were converted into 100,000. Žďársko reported a third percent decrease in morbidity last week to 907 cases.
A year ago there were 829 patients at 46 weeks, 703 patients in 2016, and in 2015 the disease was 813 cases per one hundred thousand.
Since the development of morbidity in mid-November, the evolution of the upcoming flu season can not be predicted reliably, but the truth is that a year ago, the highest flu epidemic hit the entire region in Vysočina over the last few years.
This year is still a good time to vaccinate against influenza, which should protect mainly at-risk populations, such as first and primary pensioners and people with reduced health. "Also this year, the vaccine with four valentines is designed for vaccination for the protection of two types of influenza A and two types of influenza B. There are two types of this vaccine," Dvorakova said.
Last year, in the mountains, seven women and four men aged 59 to 90 years died of influenza. Six of them were infected with type B influenza, five influenza A.
