Rome – If we violate the principles of dietary cuts, we do not have a disaster, but we have to keep it under control. When we want to achieve a long-term goal, such as weight loss, then an extraordinary dietary disorder will improve mood and strengthen our ability to withstand other temptations. Referring to the results of a study, the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera writes.
Are you trying to lose more pounds and you think you must give up all your favorite dishes, even vacation? This is not the best idea, because a dietary exclusion not only does not break the outcome, but can be useful. This is stated in a study by a team of Dutch scientists published on the site of the Personnel and Social Psychology Bulletin.
Scientists have come to the conclusion that if we succumb to temptation, if we have a good cause, it helps us to interpret this behavior not as a failure that has destroyed our efforts to achieve the goal, but as evidence of our own self-control.
And the idea is totally unfounded, we must always avoid temptations if we want to achieve a long-term goal, such as weight reduction, as well as a study published in the Journal of Consumer Psychology. In this study, Portuguese and Dutch scientists, using three experiments involving diet, have shown that if deviant behavior is planned in advance, it can help maintain self-control and continuation of the program. In other words, these "offenses under control" improve the mood and strengthen the ability to withstand other temptations.
What practical lessons can we learn from these studies? "Of course, it is not possible to undergo the first temptation we have, it is a way to lose control of us, to succumb to good reasons, and these good reasons are always related to being in the congregation of others, yes is not rewarding or comforting, "said Associate Professor Nicoletta Kawaza of Modena University.
"It's not practical to start a diet with the idea that we will always keep it for a long time. It's better to start by considering under what conditions and for what reasons we are ready to break the border: a dinner where we taste the culinary specialty at the place where we are a holiday, a holiday, a special or a family dinner, when we do not want to offend who cooks and who invites us, then we return to the diet with renewed determination, "says Kawazza.
After this programmed offense, we can plan a day of lighting to make us even more confident that we are psychologically encouraged and not physically injured.
