“With confidence, I put my hand on the vaccine”



Amid the dilemma that many Colombians face over whether or not to administer the Covid-19 vaccine, the call for everyone to be vaccinated comes from the town of Endlejo – one of the country’s pilots in the process of overcoming the pandemic.

The caller is Veronica Machado Torres, a professional nurse born in the municipality of Buenavista and that this Tuesday will be the first to receive a dose of the Pfizer vaccine of over 600 arriving in the department yesterday morning via a flight that landed at Las Bruyas Airport.

Veronica, Head of Nursing at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Universitario de Ongelejo Hospital (HUS), where he is three years old, emphasizes that vaccination is the best way to deal with this virus that has taken so many lives, and some of them he saw extinguished despite the strong fight.

HUS managed to recover 4,289 patients infected with the virus and it was present in those fights and fortunately, so far, is not contagious. He now guarantees that he has been measured with confidence to put his hand on the vaccine.

His has always been caring for critical patients, he has 10 of 25 years of experience in this field. After graduating as a professional nurse at the Metropolitan University of Barranquilla, her work experience began at the first level of health care at Guaranda Health Center, municipality of La Mojana, Sucrenya. At the end of his rural year, he arrived in Endlejo and has since devoted himself to helping save lives in the capital of Sucre.
