Although the first months of isolation were particularly difficult for the national car industry, the sector managed to rise. According to data released by the National Federation of Traders, Fenalco, in collaboration with the National Association of Businessmen of Colombia, Andy, Car sales are growing gradually to approach last year’s level.
Just compare the very bad numbers for April (217 units sold), May (8,920) and June (11,961), versus October (20,858), but especially those from November (22,330) that the variation in relation to the monthly sales from 2019 is starting to drop below double digits, with a difference of only 6.7%.
A great achievement considering that the industry has achieved these figures not counting the Bogota International Motor Show, which was scheduled for November 4-16 and that, according to historical tradition, it tends to double the sales of that month compared to those of the previous year, because we remember that it is a biennial event.
However, although the outlook is steadily reviving, the industry still cannot be trusted. After all, 161,537 units sold so far this year continue to fade compared to 232,659 that were registered until the same period last year. The challenge will be even greater if we take into account that more than 30,000 vehicles were sold last December.
However, the industry maintains an optimistic face, while the list of best-selling vehicles shows a a clear trend towards vehicles manufactured in Colombia, which tend to be more pocket friendly. In this regard, we present below the ten best-selling cars in Colombia so far in 2020:
1. Chevrolet Onyx (7571 units)
