As we have already told you, we just presented it new Mazda3 in the hall in Los Angeles, with evolution in the design that makes it more elegant and refined. We have to admit that we want its design, combining some more aggressive features, with other more curvilinear, which give that air so characteristic of Mazda.
If you remember the concept of Mazda Kai 2017, then this new five-door Mazda3 will sound to you. And that's the design that needs to go to production barely changed from that prototype, which is good news, because their forms were very attractive. The brand intends with this new iteration to go even further in quality, to compete closer to models such as Volkswagen Golf, Audi A3, BMW 1 Series or Mercedes Class A.
Coming to the engines, Mazda will equip the famous Skyactiv-G and Skyactiv-D 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 engines, along with 1.8 diesel engines. In our country, the first gasoline engine with 122 hp and 116 hp diesel will be offered.
These engines can be connected to a manual or automatic box, with six connections
One of the most important novelties is the incorporation of the new SKYACTIV-X gasoline engines in this new model. These engines are of the type HCCI –Homogeneous compression for ignition or a homogeneous charge with compression ignition. It can work with a weak mixture and compression detonation, as if it were a diesel, or by stoichiometric mixing and spark detonation. For this Mazda is equipped with new engine sensors and turbocharger to help control the moment of automatic ignition and that the car is not holding. Its compression is very high, in the order of 16: 1, and has the advantage of having greater efficiency, reducing consumption between 20 and 30% while creating less NOx rather than a conventional engine.
Another new feature is the new platform, called SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture, which is already ready to incorporate hybrid drive systems. In the case of the new Mazda3, there will be a version MHEV, or semi-hybrid. Instead of following the paths of other manufacturers with similar 48-volt systems, Mazda decided to turn on a 24-volt lithium-ion battery. That's why it will be at a lower capacity, but will provide an estimated fuel saving of 9%.

To show that it wants to compete with the best, Mazda will offer an option in some markets to include the all-wheel drive to the 3 Series, derived from its CX SUV. It offers a standard front-wheel drive, and when the system detects engine loss, multi-disk electronic differential control – with the same principle as Haldex – sends the torque to the rear axle.
The equipment is expected to be first class, since the competition in the premium league requires a complete complement. The system G-Vectoring, LED headlamps, multiple travel aids, or the BOSE sound system with 13 speakers will make Mazda3 one of the best-equipped in its category.
If you do not like anything, you will have to wait until February 2019 to buy five doors, which will start at a price of 23,415 euros; and if you want a sedan, they are expected to reach the market in June next year.
