For many TV viewers, Right and order: SVU star Mariska Haritay probably feels like a family. Over the past 20 years, we've seen how Detective Olivia Benson solved the grave crimes and fought for justice for the victims. In fact, NBC's permanent broadcast is now tied to the original Law and order and Gunsmoke for the honor of being the longest-running actor television drama live.
But what some spectators may not know is that Hargitay comes from a famous Hollywood family with a tragic history.
Jane Mansfield is the mother of Maria Hargita
54-year-old Law and order star is the daughter of actress Jane Mansfield and actor and bodybuilder Miki Haritay.
Together with stars like Marilyn Monroe and Mami Van Doren, Mansfield was one of the most famous blond Hollywood bombs in the 1950s and 1960s. She was known for her roles in the films The girl can not help him, whether the success will be played by Rock Hunter, The Wayward Bus, and Kiss them for me, as well as her work on the stage and on television.
Mansfield was also set for Playboy and had a serious self-promotion ability. Known as the "Monroe of the Working Boy", she will perform with defects in strategic wardrobes and rarely refuse an opportunity for an interview or a public appearance. Ninety percent of the people at her wedding in 1957 to Harragay are journalists, according to Hollywood Reporter.
"If it was not for Mansfield then, most likely, there will be no Kardashians today," the magazine said.
While Mansfield was a big star, her popularity began to decline until the 1960s. In 1967, she traveled from Biloxi, Mississippi, where she recently performed in New Orleans, when the car she was driving was shot in the back of a tractor trailer. Mansfield was killed immediately, along with two other passengers in the front seat of the vehicle. He was 34 years old.
Three of Mansfield's five children were also in the car – 8-year-old Mickey Jr., 6-year-old Zoltan, and three-year-old Mariska. All three survived the accident with minor injuries. (Their father, who divorced from Mansfield, was not in the car during the accident.)
How Harrai deal with your mother's loss
Hargita said in the interviews that she had no memory of a deadly accident, but called her mother's loss in her youth a "scar of my soul". Although she was only three years old when her mother died, the actress says she feels like Manfield's presence in her life.
"Someone once said [remembering] My mother: "All you have to do is look at the mirror," Hargray told The People People magazine earlier this year. "She's with me yet."
"The way I lived with a loss is to rely on it," she added. "As the saying goes, the only way out is finished. In my life, of course, I tried to avoid pain, loss, and feeling of things. But I learned instead of relying on it because sooner or later you will have to pay pepper" .
How she wants her mother to be remembered
While Mansfield is best remembered for her hidden figure and beautiful appearance, Harragay wants people to know that her mother is more than a sex symbol.
"My mother was this incredible, beautiful, glamorous sex symbol – but people do not know that she plays violin and has 160 intelligent and has five children and loved dogs," she said in an interview with People. "She was so much before her time. She was an inspiration, she had this appetite for life, and I think I share it with her."
