The PPP identified the victim of a deadly crash in South Huron.
The officials were summoned shortly after 7 am on Saturday at a location on Winery Street East of London. The passerby discovered a heavily damaged vehicle from the pavement in the field. The Huron Fire Department in the Southern Huron and the Huron County Hospital also responded to the scene.
Investigators say the driver traveled west of the Whalen Line line in a full-size sedan when somehow the vehicle was moving at high speed. He hit two trees, then rolled several times.
A lone traveler, identified by the PBO as Zaharie Smith (26) from St. Paul, was named dead at the scene.
Whalen line between London Rd. and Morrison Line was closed for several hours, as researchers from the TPI Technical Pillar Technical Investigation Panel (TCI) survey. It was re-opened at around 3:30.
Post-mortem should be performed on Sunday to determine what happened to the driver.
Each witness of this accident should contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 524-8314.
