The male pedestrian was taken to hospital after a clash near the intersection of the streets of Cherbourg and Dundas on Saturday evening, police said.

Police in Toronto said they were summoned to the area immediately after 6 o'clock. after hearing the pedestrian was hit.

The man, believed to be in the 60s or 70s, was seriously injured, police said.

The driver remained at the scene.

Police said roads in the area were closed to allow an investigation, but the roads have since been opened.
