The accident closes Highway 1 in North Vancouver for 6 hours

Anyone who drove at Highway 1 in North Vancouver Saturday night faced massive delays after the accident closed the overloaded pavement in both directions for almost six hours.

Only after 19 hours, extraordinary crews reacted to a crash near the exit of Mount Seymour Parkway.

The highway was closed in both directions from the Lin Valley to the highway. Disk BC advised drivers to use the Lions Gate Bridge as an alternative path to the Second Bridge – and expect heavy jams.

The images posted to Daily Hive show that firefighters attend a white truck and also smoke as a vehicle's fuel.

It is not known how many people, if any, were injured in the accident.

DriveBC said the highway was re-opened for vehicle traffic at 1:18 am – nearly six hours after the crash.
