The program team in the hospital St. Joseph opens his public support to his grief.
"This is the first time we take off the offsite event to allow more people, and we did it openly to the public. You do not have to be one of our clients to come," said Orly Kulverhouse, coordinator for the Children's Care Program hearts, which serve children and teenagers aged six to 18 years who have experienced the death of a loved one. "We look forward to a good response and use it as a way to let people know what we have to offer."
The event, Dealing Through the Holidays, will be held on December 11th at 6:30 pm. By 8:30 am Families with children who have suffered losses, will participate in commemorative decoration of gingerbread houses and joint commemorative lighting of candles. It will also provide information and resources on how to go through the season.
"The holidays can be a really hard time for people, so the biggest thing we can do is just be ready and think ahead," Calverhouse said. "What traditions are really important and we want to keep them?" What traditions do we want to change or get rid of everyone? Grant permission to do so and make the plan ahead of time with the family. "
The Hospice Program Team serves between 400 and 500 clients a year free of charge, in addition to providing field and community education.
Culverhouse said the most important thing that families are complaining about is finding a way to pay tribute to the person who died.
"When someone dies, their body dies, but our relationship with them does not," she said. "And so much of what we do in Hospice is just encouraging people to continue that relationship with that person."
Special support for adult sadness will be held in partnership with the Central Family Health Team Lampton at Lampton Meadvv Villa on December 10th at 06:30 am. until 8:30 am Interested participants can use RSVP at 519-882-2500.
