Senators acquire Anders Nilsson and Darren Archibald from Vancouver

OTTAVA – On Ottawa senators (@ Senators) announced today that the club has acquired goalkeeper Anders Nilsson and forward Darren Archibald of Vancouver Canucks in exchange for goalkeeper Mike McKenna, ahead Tom Piat and the selection in the sixth Ottawa round in the draft league in 2019. Nielson will join Senators for tonight's game, while Archibald will be appointed to the Beleville senators of the American Hockey League.

Nilson, 28, has scored a 3-8-1 record, releasing 3.08 goals against the average and .895 per cent savings in 12 matches with the Canucks this year. At 6-6, born 232 kg from Lulea, Sweden, played in the NHL with 117 career games with New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabers and Vancouver, releasing a record 39-54-13 with 3.07 goals against the average , a percentage of 905% and four interruptions.

Nilsson was the choice in the third round of the Island (62nd place) in the NHL draft 2009. Internationally, he represented his native Sweden on many occasions, including the World Hockey Championship in 2018, when he retained the third gold medal when he was named for the team of all the stars. He played at the World in 2014 and 2015, and also appears at the 2010 World Junior Championship (bronze).

Archibald 28, scored one goal and added assistance in nine Cannes games this year and scored 11 goals and added five assists for 16 points in 23 matches with the AHL Vancouver branch, Utah Comet.

On 6-3, 206 kilos in Newmarket, Ont appeared in 52 career NHL games, all with Kanuks, scoring six goals and adding eight assists for 14 points. Unconfirmed, he signed with Vancouver after his big younger career at the Hockey League in Ontario and spent his entire career with the organization.
