Fried chicken is probably one of the greatest inventions of humanity. Most of us are overlooked only delicacy once or twice a week, but for those who consume it every day, they may want to rethink their habit.
A study published by BMJ said regular fried foods could increase the risk of early death for any cause in postmenopausal women.
106,966 women aged 50 to 70 were asked to respond to the questionnaire, and they were monitored for 18 years until the survey ended in February 2017. The researchers noted how their diet incorporated various fried foods such as fried chicken, fries, tacos, fried fish and more.
Over the past 18 years, 31,588 women have died, with 8,358 of the deaths due to heart problems, while others 13,880 have died for other reasons.
As quoted by Insider, Wei Bao, an Ido University epidemiologist and co-author of the study,
"We know that consumption of fried foods is something very common in the United States and around the world. Unfortunately, we know little about the long-term health effects of fried foods."
According to the survey, the daily consumption of fried chicken can increase the risk of death by 13% for any reason and a 12% higher risk of death from heart problems.
Eat fish from fish are not spared obviously because they have an increased risk of dying from 7%.
The good news is that the research found no evidence linking fried foods with a higher risk of cancer.
It is not surprising that women who ate more fried foods tend to be younger, come from a low-income group and are less educated. Their unhealthy eating habits are likely to be paired with smoking.
Wei Bao pointed out that the results can also be applied to men, although they did not participate in the study.
As Malaysians, we tend to need to get into fried food, because everything that is fried is more likely to be shit! However, do not overdo it? Please practice again!
