Xiaomi’s budget sub-brand, Redmi, has never released a smartwatch before, and its first entry turned out as you expected: a rather uninspiring design at a pretty attractive price. The Redmi Watch has just launched in China for 299 yuan, or about $ 45.
The watch has a 1.4-inch rectangular display with curved glass, and comes in black, white and blue. The silicone belt is available in black, white, blue, green and pink. There is a single button on the side of the watch, and everything else is controlled by a touch screen or Mi Fit application on a paired smartphone.
Other specifications include NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, heart rate monitor and up to 50m waterproofing. Xiaomi claims that the battery life will be good up to 7 days, or 12 days if you use the power saving mode. The user interface and the watch use a lot of black background, unlike the Apple Watch, although at this price you can not expect an OLED display.
The watch will go on sale in China on December 1, but may appear in other markets – including the United States – in a slightly modified form. XDA Developers recently unearthed a list from the FCC for a seemingly almost identical watch called the Mi Watch Lite, which has not yet been released.
