Following liberal lawmaker Raj Gerval, he changed his pledge to resign, MP Mark Holland of the Ajax-Durham region of Twitter said that he was no longer a member of the Liberal Group.
"Confirm, in writing, earlier this morning to the Speaker of the House of Commons that Rage Grealal, a lawmaker for Brampton East, is not a member of the Liberal Group," wrote the Dutch tweet.
While this suggests that Graal will remain in office as an independent, Global News has touched the Prime Minister's Office for confirmation.
Grewal announced his plans to resign for "personal and medical reasons" in a post on his Facebook page on 22 November. The premier's office later confirmed, referring to "gambling problems" as a factor in his resignation.
The Netherlands had previously commented on the resignation of Gill when questions were asked as to whether the gambling dependence on the British East had a bearing on his removal from the role of the finance committee on September 19, two months before the announcement of the resignation.
WATCH: After MP Gregal announced he would resign over the gambling problem, RCMP is now wondering where exactly he got that money. And as reported by Mercedes Stevenson, senior members of the Liberal Party say that he was lying about his debts for gambling.
"I can confirm that his movement has nothing to do with the problems that lie ahead," said the Netherlands, the government whip, who is in charge of committee membership, and runs Greav's move from the finance committee and the health board.
PDP MP Peter Giulian, one of the Vice Presidents of Finance told Global News before the comments of the Netherlands that he believes that the liberals must know about the gambling problem of Galeal when they moved to the committee.
"Obviously, the Liberals knew a few months ago," he said. "They would not have gone without knowing it."
However, immediately after promising to resign, Grevel sent an additional video to Globe and Mail, pulling that statement and calling it "inadequate." He added that the work he was chosen to perform as a lawmaker for Brampton East remains unfinished.
He said he would do it at this time made its final decision after parliament continues in the new year, although this is now unclear.
